With WMC Ver­wal­tung & Beratung, Willy Markow­itsch AG, found­ed in 1932, laid the foun­da­tions for today’s IT divi­sion of the WMC group of com­pa­nies. In 1981, a sep­a­rate pub­lic lim­it­ed com­pa­ny was founded.

He start­ed out as an organ­i­sa­tion­al and IT con­sul­tant. Orders for analy­ses, con­cepts, process organ­i­sa­tion and oper­a­tion most­ly came from medi­um-sized to mid-sized com­pa­nies. From the mid-nineties onwards, WMC act­ed as a full ser­vice provider. Con­sul­tan­cy, solu­tions and ser­vices for IT infra­struc­ture, migra­tions, inte­gra­tion projects and sup­port were the focus. After start­ing out with Unix sys­tems, Win­dows, Net­Ware and increas­ing­ly Lin­ux fol­lowed. Today, solu­tion-ori­en­tat­ed con­sult­ing is once again at the fore­front. With the One-Net strat­e­gy, appli­ca­tion inte­gra­tion and iden­ti­ty man­age­ment are realised — the basis for dig­i­tal busi­ness processes.

A well-found­ed basic edu­ca­tion (e.g. uni­ver­si­ty of applied sci­ences or uni­ver­si­ty) of the employ­ees and spe­cialised cer­ti­fi­ca­tions guar­an­tee a great deal of know-how, which WMC pass­es on as ser­vices and solu­tions. WMC has been domi­ciled in its own busi­ness premis­es in Reinach/Basel since 1985 and has a mod­ern infra­struc­ture for ser­vice and IT train­ing. Since 2005, the IT divi­sion of WMC has been oper­at­ing as WMC IT Solu­tions AG on. In 2012, the com­pa­ny moved into its new head­quar­ters at Kägen­strasse 10, Reinach BL. In Decem­ber 2024, the com­pa­ny was sold as part of the suc­ces­sion solu­tion to the Vier­wald Soft­ware AG about.

The focus is on the cross-appli­ca­tion and cross-organ­i­sa­tion­al map­ping of busi­ness process­es. This makes WMC a pio­neer in the field of dig­i­tal­i­sa­tion. WMC favours the use of Lin­ux and open source in the busi­ness envi­ron­ment. Its com­mit­ment to the insur­ance indus­try is par­tic­u­lar­ly strong. As a lead­ing provider of bro­ker solu­tions, WMC is rep­re­sent­ed in all impor­tant indus­try organ­i­sa­tions. In addi­tion to being a mem­ber of IG B2B and SIBA, WMC is the only ser­vice provider that is a share­hold­er in Eco­Hub AG.

WMC IT Solu­tions AG is and remains inde­pen­dent of bro­kers and insur­ance com­pa­nies with a long-term focus.
